Four Color Comics Series I: Issues #1-25, 1939 to 1942
Printed between 1939 and 1962, The Four-color comic book series, also known as the Four Color Comics and One Shot, is an American comic book compilation published by Dell Comics. So, the title was an homage to the four basic colors used when printing comic books (Magenta, cyan, black and yellow). The 25 first issues of the comic book series are called the “series 1”, this series ran from #1 to #25 between 1939-1942. Later on, in mid-1942, comic book numbering started again, and series II began, which restarted numbering from #1 again in 1942.
Even though the series ran for a total of 20 years, but the Four Color Comic series is one of the most creative and one of the most prominent comic book series of all time. The Dell Four Comics featured one of the most prominent and world’s most iconic characters including Donald Duck, Mickey mouse, Dick Tracy, Goofy, Pluto, and many more. The series also became famous for various TV and movie spin-offs, with Westerns, cartoons.
There were two series of Four Color comics by Dell.
- Series I ran from issue #1 to #25, 1939-1942
- Series II restarted numbering from #1 again in 1942
